An Address of Its Own
⚡ Improvements9
- What you remove now leaves, instead of vanishing on the spot. Delete a notification, drop a game from a list, remove a review: the row slides away and the gap closes by itself. Before, the only movement was everything else jumping up by one row — exactly the thing that shouldn’t catch your eye.
- Loading spinners no longer flash for nothing. When a request answers in an instant — and most do — the spinner never appears at all: you only see the result. It shows up only when there really is a wait.
- Dialog panels now rise instead of falling. They were the last thing moving differently from the rest of the app, where everything that arrives rises: now they speak the same language, and they close faster than they open — whoever closes has already decided.
- The headline numbers in the profile statistics — total hours, average per game, completion rate — now climb from zero, staggered against each other. And the icons that pulsed forever (the compatibility flame, the donation heart, the activity pulse) now beat three times and stop: something that blinks forever stops meaning anything after the third round.
- Loading previews now look like the page that is coming. In the community lists they were six empty rectangles, and in “Year in Review” four: when loading finished you did not see content take the place of its preview, you saw a different page. The preview now has the same sections, the same heights and the same proportions as what arrives.
- The Download page moves: the headline enters, the platform cards appear as you scroll and lift under the pointer. In the profile — yours and public — game covers now respond like in the catalog: they lift and light up, instead of merely enlarging the image.
- The cover that opens now reaches the profile too. Tapping a game — in the library or among the four favourites, on your profile and on a public one — grows the cover into the large one on the game page, and going back it settles into exactly the tile it came from: the library one if you came from the library, the podium one if you came from the podium.
- Game pages are now far easier to find from search engines. The index GameTome hands to Google stopped at 5,000 pages, leaving four out of five behind. They are all there now — nearly twenty-five thousand — along with the community’s public lists.
- GameTome has an address of its own: **gametome.app**. The old address keeps working, so no link you saved or shared breaks, and the Windows and Android apps you already installed keep running exactly as before. The signature printed on Year in Review images now carries the new address too.
🐛 Bug Fixes8
- In the profile statistics, the five horizontal bars — completion, modes, genres, platforms, decades — were meant to fill over seven tenths of a second but appeared already full: the fill was declared but could never start. They now uncover from the left, one after another.
- In the catalog, applying a filter only moved half the grid: new games arrived with their animation, the ones the filter left in place appeared abruptly, and the excluded ones vanished without a goodbye. Now a filter changes the whole set, and the whole set is replaced together: what leaves fades out, what arrives comes in staggered, just like on first opening.
- The loading animation only came back once. It was there on first arrival and never again: changing a filter in the catalog, switching from “all the community” to “following only” in the activity feed, or re-sorting the lists replaced the content with nothing to say it was on its way. The wait is now shown on every load, on all three pages.
- The preview of a shared link is now in the language of whoever shared it, and it always has an image. Before, the text was fixed in Italian for everyone, and sharing a profile without a photo or a list without covers produced an empty grey box. The language now travels inside the link — the only way, since whoever builds the preview downloads the page knowing nothing about you — and where there is no image of its own, the GameTome icon appears.
- The panels that open over the page — settings, filters, notifications and all the rest — used to scroll with the browser’s system scrollbar instead of the site’s thin one. There is now a single scrollbar, the same colour throughout the app and in both themes.
- The numbers GameTome told about itself were long out of date: the home page claimed 6,000+ games and the Discord presence announced 8,000+, while the catalogue now holds over twenty-six thousand. The count is now always the real one, written with your language’s separators — and if the figure is momentarily unavailable, no invented one takes its place.
- Two promises no measurement backed have been removed. The donations page and the terms of use guaranteed response times under 50 ms (and, in English, 99.9% uptime): those figures described the server configuration, not what anyone using the app actually experiences. The same sentences now speak of performance and availability without pledging numbers we cannot verify.
- Signing in with Google now ends on the address it started from. With several names leading to the same site, a sign-in begun on one could finish on another: you landed on a login page with an error, and stayed signed out on the site you started from. The "www" address now always leads to the one without it, before the sign-in even begins, so the round trip ends where it started.

Everything Answers Your Touch, and Half a Star Is Half Again
⚡ Improvements7
- When you rate a game, the star you touch and the ones before it swell one after another, and the one you picked answers with a small spring.
- On a phone, covers and buttons answer the moment you touch them, instead of sitting still until the page arrives: that silence read as “it didn’t feel it”. And if a sign-in is refused, the card says so with a shake, not just a line of text.
- Waiting is more honest now. While a page loads, the grey blocks no longer blink all at the same instant: a blade of light crosses them one after another. And the Steam sync no longer shows an invented 5% before it knows how much is left: it shows a wait that flows, and closes with a tick that draws itself.
- Small movements around the app: activity entries rise as you scroll to them, the notification dot pulses three times and then stops instead of beating forever, and alerts come in with a hint of bounce.
- On the landing page, the feature boxes and the featured game covers now lift with a coloured halo when you hover them, just like the ones in the catalogue already did.
- The footer has been tidied up: the changelog and the download appeared twice, and “delete account” sat in line with the policy pages as if it were one of them. Now each entry appears once and the sections read more clearly.
- The landing page is more direct: the box with the legal and Google Sign-In information no longer sits halfway down it. Those texts have not gone — they live in the privacy policy, reachable from the footer.
🐛 Bug Fixes4
- On half ratings, the half star was drawn as a small star inside the big outline, instead of a star filled halfway. Now it is exactly half.
- With a mouse, hovering a cover now really lifts the card: before it only grew, because the shadow meant to detach it from the background was never applied.
- At the bottom of the landing page, the button to download the app did not react to the pointer at all. Now it responds, and it looks the same as its twin at the top of the page.
- On Android, the clock and the icons in the status and navigation bars could disappear, turning dark on a dark background. It happened on phones up to Android 14, while newer ones were fine: from Android 15 the system decides icon contrast, below that the app decided — and the app decided wrong.

Your Phone’s Theme, and a Lighter App
🚀 Features1
- Tap a game in the catalogue and its cover opens into the big one on the game page, instead of vanishing and reappearing somewhere else. Going back, it settles into its place in the grid. Anyone who asked their device for less motion sees none of it.
⚡ Improvements5
- The launch screen with the logo now follows your phone’s setting: light if your phone is in light mode, dark if it’s in dark mode. Before it was dark for everyone, and on some older phones it even came up white.
- Every page opens lighter: the app used to download all seven languages on every visit, including the six you don’t use. Now it downloads only yours — about 110 KB less to fetch and process each time, which shows most on a phone and on a slow connection. Switch language and the new one arrives in an instant.
- The profile page opens faster: the full avatar catalogue — hundreds of characters — is no longer loaded with the page, but only when you actually open the picker.
- Importing your data no longer stops at the first 100 items: the whole file is imported, one block at a time, with a bar showing where it is. If something goes wrong halfway, it now tells you how many items had already made it in.
- The Windows installer is about 40 MB lighter: it no longer carries hundreds of components that only the website needs and that were never used on your computer.
🐛 Bug Fixes10
- The test notification now actually says it is a test: it used to arrive titled “New Follower”, with the name of your supposed new follower left blank.
- When syncing your Steam library, games the catalogue does not recognise are now added reliably: two different titles could previously end up competing for the same slot, and one of them would vanish or be mistaken for another game. Each title now gets its own, and syncing again creates no duplicates.
- Switching tabs on your profile (Analytics, Completed, Backlog…) no longer makes the page jump. The panel is no longer rebuilt from scratch on every click — covers that were already loaded stay where they are — and moving back along the row no longer restarts the entrance animation halfway, from the wrong side.
- Switching tabs on your profile no longer shows a white flash before the games come back. The panel used to fade in from nothing, so for a moment you saw the page background instead of your games; now it only slides, and stays visible throughout.
- The app opens in your phone’s theme: light if your phone is light, dark if it’s dark. It used to always start dark, whatever the system said. If you pick a theme yourself with the button, your choice wins and sticks.
- On some Android phones the empty band above the top bar and the dead space at the bottom of pages are gone. The app was reserving room for the system bars that the phone had already reserved on its own, counting it twice.
- On phones with a shorter screen, panels like “Add to backlog” are no longer cut off. If the content doesn’t fit, the panel now scrolls and the Save button is always within reach: before, it sat off-screen with no way to get to it — especially with the keyboard open.
- In the app, one of the causes that cut the theme-change animation short is gone: the app was recolouring the phone’s status bar while the animation was still running, and that alone stopped it halfway. The bar now waits until the end.
- The theme-change circle now runs all the way through inside the app, at the same speed as on the site, and it reveals the new page as it opens instead of filling with colour. On busy pages it used to open a little and then freeze: the phone had to redraw the whole page on every frame and could not keep up. The circle is now an opening in a still image of the previous theme, with the new page already waiting underneath — nothing left to redraw, so it stays smooth on any phone, however long the page.
- The first theme change after opening the app is now smooth too: on a fresh start, the first press made the animation begin and then stall, while every press after that was perfect. It was a cost paid only once per launch: the first animation of this kind, which the phone has to set up from scratch. That setup now happens during the launch screen, while the display is still covered, so the first press finds everything ready. In the same pass, the status bar at the top can no longer interrupt the animation by taking on its colour a moment late.
🛡️ Security4
- Administrator email addresses are no longer sent to the browser: they used to be written into the code downloaded by anyone opening a game or list page. The browser now receives only a yes or a no, decided by the server. No permission changes: the real checks were already server-side.
- The desktop app now sits on a far more recent foundation: the engine that draws the pages is twenty-two major versions newer, including security fixes that concern precisely the pages loaded from the internet.
- In the desktop app, the part that shows the site now runs inside an enclosure sealed off from the rest of the system. If a flaw in the engine were ever exploited, on its own it would no longer be enough to reach the computer.
- The desktop app no longer opens secondary windows at the page’s request. External links still open in your default browser, as before; nothing else can open by itself.
v1.0.4

A Launch Without White Screens
⚡ Improvements1
- The what’s new page is tidier: entries are gathered under their own category — New, Improvements, Fixes, Security — instead of repeating the label on every line. It reads in less space, especially on a phone.
🐛 Bug Fixes3
- Opening the app no longer flashes a white screen before the logo: the launch screen is now dark like the rest of the app, on older phones too.
- No more white flash between tapping the icon and the content appearing: the app’s background is dark from the very first moment.
- On narrow phone screens the what’s new page is no longer cut off on the right: titles and entries stay whole, with nothing to drag into view.
🛡️ Security1
- Updated the foundation the app runs on to the latest supported version: it closes 21 known security advisories in the underlying libraries, without changing anything you see.
v1.0.3

Android Google Sign-In, Fluid Animations & Redesigned Emails
⚡ Improvements8
- The catalogue is animated: covers come in one after another and lift when you point at them.
- Steam Sync now shows the five stages it goes through, and the progress bar can no longer move backwards.
- Welcome and password reset emails have been redesigned: they arrive in your language, in your theme, and read well on a phone.
- A new indicator slides between sections, both in the bottom bar and across the profile tabs.
- Every animation respects your device’s reduce-motion setting.
- Switching theme now opens in a circle from the button instead of snapping.
- The ratings chart grows from the bottom as you scroll to it, and the bell swings when a notification arrives while you are using the app.
- Changing section in your profile slides the content in from the side you moved towards, and the background blurs behind dialogs.
🐛 Bug Fixes8
- Fixed Google sign-in on Android on the first attempt after installing: you are no longer bounced to the browser with a 400 error. Some domains Google passes through while creating your session were not allowed, so the app opened them externally and lost the session.
- The bottom of every page is no longer hidden behind the navigation bar: footers and last rows are reachable again.
- On Android the bottom system bar is no longer white: it now matches the app.
- In the Android app, file picking (avatar upload), permission requests and dialogs work again: they had been unintentionally disabled by the Google popup handling.
- In the Android app, the top bar sits right on every phone: no empty band where the system already leaves room for its own bars, and no logo under the notch where it does not. The app now measures the phone in front of it instead of inferring it from the Android version.
- The app no longer flashes from light to dark theme when it opens: the very first screen and the rest of the app now pick the theme the same way.
- Removed the empty gap at the bottom of pages on phones: there were about 112px too many below the last footer row, because the room for the bottom navigation bar was being reserved twice.
- Password recovery and two-step verification: a code pasted with spaces no longer loses a digit, and the code field is now recognised by autofill.
🛡️ Security3
- Reported content and support messages are now sanitised before reaching internal emails, so nobody can inject code into them.
- Updated the authentication and email-sending libraries to the versions carrying the latest security fixes.
- Password recovery now defends itself against guessing: the 6-digit code is cancelled after five wrong attempts, at least a minute passes between two sends to the same address, and bulk requests from the same IP address are turned away.
